STEM PROGRAM FUNDING ASSISTANCE

These guidelines establish procedures for requesting financial assistance for implementation of the Blacks In Government’s (BIG) Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) program. BIG provides funding assistance to chapters to support implementing their STEM program.

  1. Funding Guidelines
  2. Requests may be made for nonrefundable assistance.
  3. Funding assistance may be awarded up to $200 or more (if funds are available).
  4. No more than one award of assistance may be made to a chapter.
  5. STEM funds cannot be applied to expenses associated with any other national programs.
  6. The National Program and Planning Committee will review all requests.
  7. Chapters will be made aware of the status or action taken on their request within 7 days of submission.
  8. Final approval for STEM assistance for chapters will be determined on an as needed basis after a review of financial status.
  9. Submission of Requests for Funding
  10. Applications must be submitted no later than March 15. All applications must be submitted to the National Program and Planning Chair.
  11. STEM applications must be completed thoroughly. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Application form is at Attachment 1.
  12. Requests for assistance require signatures of the Chapter president and the Chapter Program and Planning Chair.
  13. All requests for assistance must be accompanied by the chapter’s current bank statement and a budget for their STEM program.
